The Data Practices Act (Minnesota Statutes, Chapter

federal law says the data is not public. Government data is a term that
means all recorded information a government entity has, including
paper, email, CD-ROMs, photographs, etc. To learn more about accessing
government data, see the Data Practices Policies below:
How to Make a Data Request
In general, to look at government data or request copies of data that
the city keeps, your request must be in writing, and submitted by mail,
or email. The following forms may be used to process your request.
For data requests from the Police Department, visit Request Police Report for more information.
Data requests not related to Police records may be mailed to or dropped off at: City of Farmington, 430 Third Street, Farmington, MN 55024 (Attn: Data Practices Compliance Official) or emailed.
NOTE: The Data Practices Act does not require the City of Farmington to answer questions that are not requests for data.
