Planning is responsible for guiding development and regulating land use within the City of Farmington. Typical duties include:

Development and implementation of the city’s Comprehensive Plan

Provide professional advice, technical expertise and information support to other city departments, the Farmington Planning Commission and the Farmington City Council

Administers and enforces the city’s zoning and subdivision ordinances

Sign regulation

Assists in building permit review

Process land use applications such as conditional use permits and variances

Site plan review

Review and process annexation petitions and actively participates with neighboring townships to establish orderly annexation agreements
