Vote by Absentee Ballot
In Minnesota, you can vote early with an absentee ballot starting 46 days before Election Day.
In Person - visit any of the following locations:
- Dakota County Western Service Center, 14955 Galaxie Ave, Apple Valley
- Dakota County Northern Service Center, 1 Mendota Road, West St. Paul
- Dakota County Administration Center, 1590 Highway 55, Hastings
- Farmington City Hall, 430 Third St, Farmington
Voters may download an Absentee Ballot Application and submit in person to any of the offices listed above or return via:

Absentee ballots must be returned no later than 8 p.m. on election night.
Direct Balloting:
During the final 18 days before Election Day, voters who vote in person are allowed to place their ballots
directly into the ballot counter instead of sealing them in envelopes for later processing. This allows a voter to watch as their ballot is tabulated and to be made aware of any errors the ballot counter may detect as the ballot is processed.
STATE PRIMARY - TUESDAY, AUGUST 13
Absentee voting begins Friday, June 28; voting options include:
- Vote by absentee in person at Farmington City Hall, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Vote by absentee in person at any of the three Dakota County Office locations (visit Absentee Ballots | Dakota County for hours and more information)
- Vote by mail
Direct balloting (voters place ballot directly into tabulator) begins Friday, July 26; voting options include:
- Farmington City Hall, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Any of the three Dakota County Office locations (visit Absentee Ballots | Dakota County for hours and more information)
Extended hours for the State Primary:
Saturday, August 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.;
and Monday, August 12, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
GENERAL ELECTION - TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2024
Absentee voting begins Thursday, September 19; voting options include:
- Vote by absentee in person at Farmington City Hall, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Vote by absentee in person at any of the three Dakota County Office locations (visit Absentee Ballots | Dakota County for hours and more information)
- Vote by mail

- Farmington City Hall, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Extended hours for the General Election:
Saturday, October 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.;
Saturday, November 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.;
Sunday, November 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.;
and Monday, November 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
