Fire Prevention & Public Outreach

Farmington Fire Department is dedicated to serve the community through public events, education and outreach programs. From coffee with your firefighters, to Fire Prevention Week, and the annual open house; the department participates in events year-round to promote fire safety and create ties in the community.

The department also assists the Farmington Firefighters Relief Association (FFRA) and Farmington Firefighters Auxiliary Association (FFAA) organizations with fundraisers to support the members of the Farmington Fire Department.

Fire Prevention 101 Video Series

Fighting fires isn't the only thing firefighters do. Preventing fires is an important part of being a firefighter too! To do this the Farmington Fire Department has created a video series to educate the public on fire prevention. Fire Prevention Open House

The Fire Prevention Open House is an opportunity to educate the public about fire safety and preventative measures that you can take to avoid fires or other emergencies in your home. In addition, we will give tours of the fire station and fire trucks. And demonstrate some of the many ways we serve the community. Sparky the Fire Pup will be there for photos and if the weather is favorable, Life Link helicopter and flight crew will visit! 

Fire Prevention Week

Oct. 6-12

The Farmington Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®)—the official sponsor of Fire Prevention Week for 100 years—to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign.

The campaign messaging for 2024 has not been released yet.   

Education tools for teachers and families including free downloads are available at firepreventionweek.org.

National Night Out

The National Night Out program culminates annually on the first Tuesday of August. The Farmington Police Department will accept police and firefighter visit requests for the National Night Out campaign in July. Visit natw.org for a free organizational kit filled with ”how to” materials.

Turkey Bingo Fundraiser

The Farmington Firefighters Relief Association (FFRA) invites you to the 72nd Annual Farmington Fire Department Turkey Bingo. It is the largest fundraiser the FFRA holds each year, and it provides funding to support your Farmington firefighters. Over the past two years alone, the FFRA has donated over $50,000, which was used to purchase training equipment!

This is a family-friendly event. We hope you will join us for plenty of bingo games, door prizes, raffles, and our famous turkey sandwiches!
