Notification of Safety System Test Farmington Compressor Station
Northern Natural Gas plans to test the Emergency Shutdown System (ESD) at its Farmington compressor station located at 4685 212th Street West. The test is scheduled to commence Tuesday May 16, 2023, at approximately 9 a.m.
The annual testing of the ESD is a requirement of the U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration. The test allows Northern to confirm the operation of safety systems at the compressor station.
This test involves venting gas that will result in a moderately loud sound. The sound is expected to last about three minutes. The natural gas that is vented is lighter than air and will rise and dissipate quickly.
There is no need to be concerned about venting gas. noise or personal safety as this testing is conducted in a controlled environment.
