Pre-Register to Vote

Not sure if you’re registered or want to pre-register? Check your voter registration status at mnvotes.org and learn what documents you will need to provide. Voters are strongly encouraged to pre-register to save themselves time on Election Day. If you have moved since the last election, have changed your name, or have not voted within the past four years, you will need to register. Only residential addresses are accepted. Pre-registration may be done online at mnvotes.org, at any of the three Dakota County offices, Farmington City Hall, or drivers’ license centers. See the chart above for important pre-registration deadlines.

Early Voting
Early voting means voting in person before Election Day. The 2023 legislative session contained several changes to current law regarding the administration of absentee voting, including expanding early voting from 7 days to 18 days prior to Election Day. Early voting will be available at Farmington City Hall, the Dakota County Western Service Center in Apple Valley, the Dakota County Northern Service Center in West St. Paul, and the Dakota County Administration Center in Hastings.
